George Hotham

George, the second son of John Hotham VIII esquire and his wife Isabel Hildyard. His elder brother John was born in November 1458, so George was most probably born in 1460, shortly before his father and grandfather were killed at Towton.
In June 1491, John Hothom, esquire and his brother George Hothom of Scorburgh were accused of poaching deer in the forest of Pickering [1]. On 8 October 1491, George Hothom, esquire, Robert Wiberfosse and William Usflete were commissioned to arrest John Quarffe and bring him before the king in chancery [2].
By a charter dated 10th August 1516, John Hotham X, enfeoffed Thomas Metham, Henry Eure, and George Hotham, of the manors of Dunsforth, Brampton, and Little Usborne, for the use of Robert, Hugh, and William Hotham, his brothers for life with remainder to his right heirs [3].
