Hugh Hotham

Hugh third son of Sir John Hotham IX. By a charter dated 4th October 1513, his elder brother John granted to him for life an annual rent of 5 marks arising out of his manor of Hutton Cranswick. He also received with his brothers Robert and William a grant for life of the manors of Dunsforth, Brampton, and Little Usborne [1].
Nothing is known about his life or whether he was married.
His inquisition post mortem was held at Doncaster on 20th October 1537, when it was found "that Sir John Hotham of Scorborough was seised of the manors of Dounsforth, Brampton, and Little Usborne, and by deed dated 10th August, 8 H. VIII., [1516] enfeoffed Thomas Metham and other trustees of the said manors for the use of his brothers, Robert, Hugh and William, and the longest liver, remainder to his own right heirs; and that Hugh is now dead, but Robert and William are alive and seised of the said manors."[2]
